Cross Country Sking in North Conway

Mt. Washington Valley Ski Touring Association has access to over 65 km of cross country ski trails which connect the Intervale Resort Loop to the Village of North Conway.  Whether you are new to cross country skiing or have been doing it for years, you are sure to enjoy their trails.  Along the trail, you will have access to wonderful views.  From scenic vistas of Mt. Washington to the forests of the White Mountains, views are breath taking.

The trails have three defined sections which include Northern, Central, and Village.  They offer a map which provides a great overview of the trails, and we encourage you to plan accordingly.  Trails take you from scenic vistas, or along the Saco River, through the Whitaker Woods, to the village of North Conway, and into Intervale.

Of course, this is just one of the cross country ski centers in the North Conway area.  Cross country skiing can also be enjoyed at Bear Notch, Bretton Woofs, Great Glen, Jackson, and King Pine.  After a day of cross country skiing, relax at the Inn at Thorn Hill and enjoy a relaxing massage or perhaps a peaceful Jacuzzi.  A lovely way to end a day in the great outdoors!

The Perfect Tree at Rocks Estate Christmas Tree Farm

Rabbit Hill Inn is always looking for the perfect Christmas tree and they find it every year at the Rocks Estate Christmas Tree Farm.  The Rocks Estate Christmas Tree Farm has been described as a “Norman Rockwell Christmas” experience.  Visitors can select a freshly cut tree or enjoy the experience of selecting and cutting their own tree.  The experience of walking through the snow and finding the perfect tree is like stepping back in time.  If you choose to seek out the perfect tree in the snow covered fields, you can either decide to cut the tree yourself or they will cut it for you.  The tree will then be expertly bound and tied to you vehicle, secured for your trip home.  As fresh as a Christmas tree can ever get!

In addition to getting a fresh cut tree from Rocks Estate Christmas Tree Farm, they offer uniquely designed wreaths and we are sure that one will catch your eye.  Or check out their four teams of horses which are standing by to offer complimentary horse-drawn wagon rides.  Add a few Christmas carols and a welcoming afternoon tea at Rabbit Hill Inn and you may have found a new Holiday tradition.  Once you have made this journey, we are sure that it will not be your last!

Holiday Teddy Bear Tea Supports Toys for Tots in Lenox, MA

This is the perfect time of the year to support the Toys for Tots, and this is just what the Gateways Inn has in mind!  They will be hosting the First Annual Teddy Bear Tea in Lenox, MA and they are very excited!  The Teddy Bear Tea will be held on four days, December 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th from 2-4 P.M.  Everyone is invited to attend and to bring along a special teddy bear or toy, which will be donated to the Toys for Tots.  For those guests donating a teddy bear or toy, admission to the Tea will be at $10.00 each.  If you do not have a teddy bear or toy to donate, admission to the Tea will be $22.00 each.

Toys for Tots began in 1947 when Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR and a group of Marine Reservists in Los Angeles collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children. The idea came from Bill’s wife, Diane. In the fall of 1947, Diane handcrafted a Raggedy Ann doll and asked Bill to deliver the doll to an organization, which would give it to a needy child at Christmas. When Bill determined that no agency existed, Diane told Bill that he should start one. He did. The 1947 pilot project was so successful that the Marine Corps adopted Toys for Tots in 1948 and expanded it into a nationwide campaign. That year, Marine Corps Reserve units across the nation conducted Toys for Tots campaigns in each community in which a Marine Reserve Center was located. Marines have conducted successful nationwide campaigns at Christmas each year since 1948.

Contact the Gateways Inn at 1-888-492-9466 to reserve a space to enjoy the First Annual Teddy Bear Tea today!
